The Great Weekend that ended...with an Exam!

Just for the record I had a super duper birthday weekend! Lots of drinking was had and my friends, T and E came up from Louisville for the joint b-day party I had with a girl (R) in my program, whose b-day is also March 6th, which had an 80's dress theme. And let me just say that my friends and I brought it! Only R had a better outfit. Plus I met a boy- but as always he is from another state and is just here visiting a friend for the week. I seriously believe that I have some 6th sense for meeting guys that do not live around me. (We had lunch today, by the way.) Then for my actual birthday (Monday) I had class and studying to do, but R and I did manage to get together (she needed a break from paper writing) to meet for one drink to celebrate to coolest day, ever. Then I came home, studied for the dreaded Thai spoken exam, and went to sleep at about 9pm. Then woke up around 1am, studied for another hour and went back to bed.

So today was the test...let's just say that my eyes welled up with tears and I tried my hardest not to cry. After having studied more than I ever have for any exam before- I went blank. I seriously saw whiteness in my head as I searched for the correct Thai words. I cried a little on my walk home. Yes, boys and girls, you can't learn a language in two weeks- I tried, it just doesn't work. Oops.

you've conjured up the image of every french test i ever took in school. um, i took it for about 10 years, because i had to. i suck at learning languages. i hated life in those days...and now i remember why. sorry...and since you apparently excel at languages (at least better than i), i am sure next time will be better.
